Insurance companies, supermarkets, “Security” companies, any number of “Agencies” know far more about us all than they need to and our freedoms are being eroded on a daily basis. Wake up, Britain; we’re NOT a nation of thieves, and we shouldn’t be treated as if we are.

My suggestion would be a .308 with a good scope and see how well you do at target practice for the next few months.

i agree with the cameras if you have done nothing wrong you got nothing to hide, and IM glad we don’t allow guns and i hope we don’t ever change the laws or we could have the gang war situation you read about in the American press we need to protect or country and if cameras keep of save and crime down im all for it i think we could do alot more and make life more difficult by bringing out more harsher sentences, and everybody should carry ID cards and you should be finger printed give me a reason why if you don’t break the law. you wouldn’t want that PRIVATE.. your a BNP supporter your opinion is some what wasted
What a good question, something that should have been directed at this Socialist Government.We have more CCTV coverage than any where in the world, even Russia,and yet we call it a “Democracy”.

All this business of keeping the public safe because of possible terrorist activities,is just a red herring to install these contraptions, in order that Local Authorities can spy on people who drop litter and fag-ends.
It has created “Jobs-worth” within Council’s who have to justify their existence by bringing prosecutions in order that the government can justify these cameras.
The only surveillance being carried out is to spy on the public in order to make sure that their Rubbish Bins are within the measured area to be emptied.
Most of our soldiers fought for a free country and to crush Hitler. Whilst there is a need for surveillance in places like big store to deter shoplifters and other areas for general security nobody twelve years ago ever believed it would come to the state it has. Most of it is down to the Socialist idea of controlling the people. How many of us would have believed we would see the beginnings of an Orwellian world in our lifetime. You better believe Brown is an old fashioned Socialist and not New Labour as he pretends.

There will always be an element of trade-off between liberties and security but there comes a point when the security itself is a greater threat than the very thing it supposedly protects us from.

Recently I received a letter from Tesco.They had retrieved my name and address from the DVLA after supplying them with my registration number.
Of course supermarkets aren’t the greatest threat but there is a principle at stake.What right do they have and moreover what right did the DVLA have to provide my personal details?
Like many other freedom loving individuals I would prefer to surrender most of my “security” in exchange for my right to privacy.

Unfortunately there is a lot of crime in this country, not only thefts and burglaries but intimidation, harassment and violence also. Many of the criminals who commit these crimes cannot be brought to justice without hard evidence, either a witness watching them do it and giving evidence in court or video evidence. Unfortunately they are essential.
If you became a victim of crime maybe you’d be happy for it to be caught on camera.
